Thunder Falls Terrace is the best counter-service restaurant at Islands of Adventure and it is not particularly close. It runs a real wood-fired rotisserie and grill: quarter and half chickens, baby back ribs, turkey legs, corn on the cob, rice and beans. The chicken has actual smoke on it and comes off a spit rather than out of a warmer.
The room is the other half of the argument. It is large, high-ceilinged, properly air-conditioned, and one entire wall is glass looking directly at the bottom of the Jurassic Park River Adventure drop. You eat watching boats plunge past the window, which is a better lunchtime view than most table-service restaurants in Orlando manage.
It sits behind the River Adventure exit, which is why it gets missed. Guests come off the boat, turn toward the coaster, and walk past the best food in the park without seeing the door.

Our take: The best quick-service plate at Universal Orlando and better than any counter-service main at Walt Disney World. It costs the same as a burger a hundred yards away. Order it.

Our take: Genuinely good smoked ribs at a price no table-service restaurant would match. Slightly less consistent than the chicken, and still one of the two best things in the park.

Our take: The standard theme park turkey leg, done properly here because it comes off the same wood fire as the chicken. Enormous, salty and genuinely shareable between two.

Yes, and it is one of the largest air-conditioned dining rooms in the park. That plus the windows onto the River Adventure drop makes it the best midday break at Islands of Adventure, meal or no meal.
In Jurassic Park, behind and beside the exit of Jurassic Park River Adventure, overlooking the bottom of the drop. It is easy to walk past because the entrance faces away from the main path - look for the terrace above the water.
Better than most counters here. The rotisserie chicken, ribs, corn and rice and beans are naturally gluten-free, and the team handles allergy orders routinely rather than as an exception.
