Mario Kart: Bowser's Challenge
40"102cmAn augmented-reality dark ride through Bowser's Castle that you steer and shoot in, and the most divisive attraction in the park.
Mario Kart: Bowser's Challenge puts four riders in a kart, gives each of them a steering wheel and an AR visor, and sends them through a physically built race course inside Bowser's Castle. The sets are real, the karts move on a track, and the visor overlays the racers, the shells and the item boxes onto what you are actually looking at. You steer to aim and press a trigger to throw shells.
Tips for Mario Kart: Bowser's Challenge
- Fix the visor at the platform, not on the move. Level, close to your face, and firmly seated — this single adjustment decides whether you enjoy the ride.
- Contact lenses beat glasses here by a wide margin. If you have the option, wear them the day you do this.
- Steering does not change your path. Use it to aim at the targets and enemies on your side of the course rather than trying to drive.
- Walk the queue slowly. Bowser's Castle is one of the best queue environments Universal has built, and rushing it is a genuine loss.
- Ride Mine-Cart Madness first if you have to choose. It has lower capacity, a faster-climbing wait, and it is the better ride.
