A seven-launch story coaster with no inversions, a drop track and a vertical spike - and the only major ride here excluded from Express Pass.
Hagrid's Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure opened in June 2019 in the space formerly occupied by Dragon Challenge, and it is the most inventive roller coaster Universal has built. It is a multi-launch layout with seven separate launches - some forward, one backwards - a vertical spike that stalls the train, and a free-fall drop track section that detaches the train from the track's momentum entirely. It has no inversions and its top speed is around 50 mph.
Tips for Hagrid's Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure
- Hagrid's is not on Express Pass and never has been, and it has no single rider line. Ride it in the first thirty minutes of the day, during Early Park Admission if your hotel provides it, or in the final hour before close.
- Do not walk anywhere else first. If Hagrid's is your priority, it is the first thing you do after the turnstiles, before Forbidden Journey and before VelociCoaster.
- Ask for the sidecar if straddling a seat and leaning forward for three minutes is uncomfortable. It is a request the platform team handle routinely.
- This ride goes down in rain more than anything else in the park. If it closes for weather, stay in Hogsmeade and watch the app rather than leaving the island.
- Repeat-visitor note: ride the bike once and the sidecar once. The sightlines into the forest scenery are meaningfully different and the animatronics read better from the sidecar.
