Chez Alcatraz is a compact open-air bar built into the wharf set, with a roof, a handful of tables and a railing directly onto the lagoon. It serves cocktails, frozen drinks, beer and a short list of snacks.
It is the single most underrated location in the park, and the reason is structural rather than culinary. This park has almost no shaded outdoor seating, and this bar has a roof, a breeze off the water, no queue at most hours and a view across the lagoon to New York.
Drinks are priced in line with the rest of the resort, which is to say high. Nobody is here for the value; they are here because it is the one place in this park where sitting still is genuinely pleasant.
The smartest thirty minutes you can spend in this park. Expensive drinks, but you are paying for shade, a breeze and a seat, and all three are scarce here.
