What it is
Men in Black Alien Attack opened in 2000 and has aged remarkably well, largely because its central idea is competitive rather than technological. Two vehicles run the same track side by side through a New York overrun with aliens, each carrying six riders with mounted blasters, and every rider's shots feed a vehicle score displayed at the end.
The scoring has real depth. Ordinary aliens are worth very little, and the ride hides high-value targets that most guests never find — including one at the finish worth several thousand points on its own. Hitting a target in the opposing vehicle spins it, which is both a tactic and the reason people come off dizzy.
It is the best interactive attraction at Universal Orlando and the one most likely to be underrated by first-time guests, because from outside the building it looks like a dated 2000s shooter. The physical sets are extensive, the animatronics are still good, and the replay value is the highest of anything in this park.
What riding it is actually like
The queue runs through the MIB recruitment facility and a briefing room, and the pre-show is quick. Vehicles seat six in two rows of three, each with a blaster on a swivel mount.
The ride runs through a series of street and interior scenes with aliens popping out of windows, bins and doorways. Holding the trigger down scores better than aiming carefully, because the blaster fires continuously and hits register generously.
The final sequence involves a large alien, a simulated free-fall effect, and a hard spin of the vehicle, followed by a score readout and a ranking. That closing spin is the part that catches adults out, and it is why this belongs on the motion-sickness list despite the mild ride system.
Is MEN IN BLACK Alien Attack scary?

Full transfer into a spinning vehicle with a lap bar and a mounted blaster. The vehicle rotates sharply when targets are hit, which is difficult for guests with limited trunk control or neck problems. Targets are small and illuminated in a dark environment, so the scoring is hard to engage with for guests with low vision.
Tips that actually help
- Hold the trigger down constantly rather than aiming. The scoring rewards volume of fire heavily and this is the single biggest improvement most riders can make.
- There is a very high-value target in the final room. Look up and forward at the end rather than at the aliens beside you.
- The single rider line here is well run and routinely halves the wait, though you lose the shared score with your party.
- The vehicle spins hard at the finish. If somebody in your group is already fragile from the simulators, do this before them rather than after.
- Ride it twice if you enjoy the first one. Knowing where the high-value targets are roughly triples a competent score, which makes the second ride better than the first.
